Your diaper bag has plenty of baby supplies, but do you need everything inside? Check out our list before your next trip. Pack our must-have supplies for parents and you’ll be ready for your next adventure!

    Baby Clothes

Accidents happen, so we like to keep a newborn baby set or a set of baby bamboo clothes in the bottom of the diaper bag. These outfits are perfect for families because they’re super soft and eco-friendly. If the day turns to night, you can make your little one comfortable in baby bamboo pajamas. Cozy and comfortable PJs made with eco-conscious fabrics are perfect for relaxation or a long car ride. Add a couple of accessories like plush baby hats and socks.

    Extra Diapers

You can’t go wrong by packing extra diapers, especially in case of an accident or blowout. Take one or two for a short outing, but you’ll probably need a couple more for a day trip. Stack them between your changing pad to keep them clean and dry. You can even put them in a small trash bag. Add pins or clips if you use cloth diapers.

    Travel Wipes

Wipes are essential no matter where you’re going. A travel-size package will keep your bag from getting too heavy. You can place them in the front pocket for easy access in case of a mess or accident. If you prefer to use reusable wipes, bring a bottle of water. You can even try a travel-size spray bottle on the side of your bag.

    Bottled Water

Take water for everyone in the family! Fill a large reusable water bottle before you leave. Consider adding ice to your bottle to make it last longer. Many designs will fit in your diaper bag’s side pocket, but you can also choose a bottle with a carrying hook or handle. Take an extra bottle if your baby needs water for formula feeding. Older babies may need a jug for personal hydration.

    Burp Cloths

Burp cloths are perfect for travel because they’re easy to fold and fit in the bottom of your diaper bag. You can use them to keep your baby warm or clean up small messes. Soft cotton cloths will keep your baby cozy while feeding or burping. They also make a nice blanket for the car seat. Take one or two with you every time you travel. Wash them and then return them to your bag for your next trip.

    Feeding Supplies

A diaper bag isn’t complete without feeding essentials. If you’re breastfeeding, bring the supplies that make you feel most comfortable. Some helpful items include nursing pads and covers. For formula feeding, mix a canister of formula with your bottled water. Is your little one eating solids? Bring a couple of snacks or a container of baby food.

    Hand Sanitizer

Save space when you put a hand sanitizer spray or pump in your front pocket. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer is an alternative when you can’t wash your hands. These products can help prevent the spread of germs while you’re out and about with your baby, especially when there’s no soap available. Clean your hands before you eat a playground snack or picnic lunch. You can use a few squirts to remove a stain or clean up a small mess.

    Diaper Disposal Bags

Diaper disposal bags are one of the easier supplies to forget, but they’re extremely helpful for every new parent. A small trash bag helps contain the diaper smell and offers a discreet way to get rid of your baby’s mess. Take one or two disposal bags with you every time you travel. If you decide not to use them for changing your baby, they’re still helpful for cleaning up the car or disposing of snacks and food wrappers.

    Baby Toys

Every baby needs entertainment! Keep your little one busy with baby toys that easily fit in your diaper bag. Some teethers and fidgets come on a keychain you can hook to the side and keep handy on any trip. Soft activity books make it fun to learn and explore, but you can also bring mini plush dolls or colorful keys with soft, chewable pieces.

    First Aid Kit

A mini baby first aid kit can give you peace of mind. Ask your pediatrician if you have questions about the best supplies for your baby. Most diaper bags can fit a small, lightweight pack with adhesive bandages and alcohol wipes. Baby stores and pharmacies sell travel-size supplies like antibiotic ointment and petroleum jelly. If you’re taking a day trip, you may bring a bulb syringe or infant thermometer.

    Changing Pad

Portable changing pads are essential for every outing or day trip. Sometimes, you must change your baby in the car or while spending time outside. Changing pads are a cleaner alternative to dirty bathrooms or crowded restrooms. A flat design offers a stable surface if you change your baby on a bed or blanket. Foldable changing pads are easy to fit in almost any diaper bag.

    Diaper Rash Cream

A diaper rash can happen at any moment, which is why some parents carry a small tube of diaper rash cream. It’s convenient to keep the cream close by your diapers and changing pad. Ask your pediatrician if you have questions, but this small addition to your bag could help avoid discomfort in your baby or an extra store trip.

Making Your Diaper Bag Work for Your Family

Diaper bags are essential for every growing family. Keep a change of clothes and these must-have baby products in your bag, and you’ll always be ready. Each item is helpful for your baby and lightweight enough to carry. No matter what happens during your journey, you’ll have the supplies to keep your child happy and healthy.
