Oxford Street in London is a humdinger. It has the honor of being the busiest shopping boulevard in the country and has a streetscape that consists of over 300 shops, restaurants and bars in Oxford Road. Even with this hefty shopping load, the road has managed to retain a good chunk of its downmarket trade alongside a couple of prestigious retail stores. While it has certainly seen its share of controversy and bad press in the past, the street is no longer the poster child for crime and has a surprisingly good safety record.

    Number of landmarks

The city has a number of landmarks to its name. For instance, the City of Westminster is located on the Thames and is a stone’s throw from the London Eye, London Tower and Tower Bridge. Several of its most notable buildings were constructed in the early 18th century. Some of the older buildings are still standing, such as the former residence of Charles II, while others have been demolished to make way for more contemporary developments. Despite these changes, the street has remained one of the most popular places to shop in the UK.

Other than its storable retail offerings, the street also provides for the curious. For instance, there are several museums and exhibitions at the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Library. Fortunately for residents of both the UK and Singapore, the city is well serviced by two major train stations, namely Farrer Park and City Central. A quick ride to the international business park takes around 25 minutes. If you want to sample a bit of both, 20 Oxford Road is a short walk away from the Pek Kio Market & Food Centre and Blks 91/92 Whampoa Drive.

    Upcoming Farrer Park

While the number of houses in the area is low, the building count is still high. In fact, the building is part of the KENTISH GREEN residential project, a development by Kentish View Pte Ltd. One of the more interesting aspects of the complex is its proximity to the upcoming Farrer Park MRT Station on the North East Line, which will provide residents with easy access to Singapore’s subway system.

For better or worse, 20 Oxford Road is listed for rent. The property is slated for completion in mid-2012. As a result, its current asking price is a mere RM210,000, a relatively modest sum for a prime piece of land in the heart of the City. With its central location, this is an ideal address for professionals and families alike.
